Hi all, ever get tired of buying stitch markers because you lose them like crazy? It’s like chapstick, you always lose them, like where do they even go and how come you can’t find them in the house? lol
These are some alternatives things you can use as stitch markers instead and they do have more than one purpose!
CROCHET

BOBBY PINS
I use bobby pins all the time for my hair so when I need a stitch marker for my projects, I just find one of these and put it through the stitch. They are pretty secure and I haven’t had any experience of it sliding off UNLESS your bobby pin are distorted. Once you’re done with your project, you get to use it for your hair and vice versa!
The bobby pins I use : Conair

LOBSTER CLASPS
If you are wanting to DIY something cute then these are the way to go. There are different size lobster clasps out there and you probably only need 2 sizes; one size that is big enough for worsted weight yarn (then you can use it for the smaller sizes) and one big enough for bulky/chunky yarn. Add a charm and personalize your own stitch markers for your projects!
The lobster clasp I used: 100 pcs
KNIT

JUMP RINGS
These are fairly cheap and some packages come in multiple sizes for different size needles! It’s metal so it is definitely sturdier and lasts longer. You can even decorate them with tiny beads or add on charms.

TINY ELASTIC HAIR TIES
I always have some of these laying around since it comes in 500 pieces per pack! This works well for me since I make beanies and I only need a stitch marker at the beginning. It’s cheap, it works, and if you lose it, you have 499 left! Like the bobby pins, you get to use it in your hair and your project, 2 for 1 deal!
The elastic hair ties I use: 500 Count
These are some of the materials I have lying around my house that I use as a stitch marker instead of buying brand name ones that is intended for crochet/knit. It’s really useful for me since I don’t have to go out and buy them and I get to use it for more than 1 purpose! Note: I only categorize this to make it easier, but you can use any of these stitch markers for knit or crochet as long as it works!
DO YOU GUYS USE ANY OF THESE ITEMS AS STITCH MARKERS? WHAT DO YOU USE AS STITCH MARKERS WHEN YOU DON’T WANT TO BUY IT FROM THE CRAFT STORE? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS!
