The Noah Beanie

Hi all, it’s been a minute since I wrote a new pattern. After my last top pattern, the rey bralette back in July, I took some time off to relax in the designing area, to do other things I wanted to do. I was also doing events and designing patterns really made it hard for me to make items for the event. So, it’s always an uphill battle to be able to make and design at the same time for me.

The Noah Beanie was the first pattern I made after taking a month long hiatus on writing patterns and I kept slacking off. I dreaded having to take the photo tutorial because I needed to do it at a specific time of the day for the best lighting. It was 105+ degrees for the past weeks and during the right time, my room gets extremely hot, which leads to procrastination! I would say took me a week to finish writing, another week to finish the photo tutorial, edit, and add it to the document and another week for testers to test the pattern. So, roughly 3 weeks to finish everything.

I always knew that patterns are highly based on tension and yarn thickness, among other things, but for some reason I didn’t keep that in mind when I was looking for testers! I always noticed that black yarn and sometimes white yarn are a lot of the time thicker than other colors. So for this hat, I saw the difference between the hats from every tester. It was a little frustrating because I wasn’t sure what was going on, but at the end of the day I figured it must be the yarn! So, this made me put into perspective that if people do not use the same yarn listed or yarn that are similar then the patterns might not always turn out the way it’s intended. With that said, I love every single hat they made and the unintentional slouchy hat is super cute! Every pattern I design is always a learning experience!
