The Casey Cable Knit Hat

Hi all, as you may have known for a while now that I started knitting in February 2017! This hat was definitely testing my patience and skills.

I started designing this back in mid November and continued making a few adjustments here and there. Due to the holidays (thanksgiving, christmas, and new year) this pattern was prolonged!

First Hat

– Used Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in sage

– 6 cables

– multiple of 20

– Sat perfectly on the top of the headDSC09028q copy

Second Hat

– Used Red Heart with Love Yarn in white

– 7 cables

– multiple of 18

– Longer, tapered version

Third Hat

– Used Red Heart Super Saver in warm brown

– 7 cables

– Multiple of 18

– Sat perfectly on the top of the head

– Revised version of the first hat

My first hat sat perfect on the top of my head and I love it, but I decided to see how it would look like if the hat was a bit longer to create a nice peak for a pom pom. The third hat was mostly for the picture tutorial and to make a new hat with all the modifications from the first to second versions. By the third hat, I was getting a lot better at cables. I really didn’t notice the difference until I put the hats side by side. The cables looked a lot cleaner and smoother.

I really enjoyed designing this cable knit hat. I know there are a lot of patterns out there for different yarn size, needles, etc. but this is my version and I hope you all will enjoy it as much as I did! Thank you to all my testers, you guys rocked it! I love all the variation in colors, brand, and just the overall uniqueness of each person.
